The Oval is the heart of Colorado State University. Its spacious green grass and majestic American Elms have witnessed Homecoming festivities, weddings, graduations, community events, touch football games, and countless students studying, or just enjoying the fresh air and shade under the trees' expansive canopy.
To preserve the historic significance of this grand landmark, CSU has established a fund for Oval preservation. A $500,000 endowment will provide enough money on an annual basis to establish a permanent source of income to make sure the Oval remains a healthy, vibrant open space for tomorrow's Rams.
In December, Colorado State University reached its ambitious $500 million goal for the university's first-ever comprehensive campaign – six months before the official end of the Campaign for Colorado State. The accomplishment was announced at an all-campus celebration by President Tony Frank on February 3.
CSU publicly announced the launch of its first-ever comprehensive campaign in the 139-year history of the university in August 2009. The goal for the Campaign for Colorado State University, which began in a silent phase on July 1, 2005, was to complete a $500 million fundraising effort in seven years. The campaign focused on ensuring student access to a world-class education through scholarships, supporting faculty through endowed chairs and professorships, providing funds to increase quality through enhanced programs, and creating and renovating state-of-the-art educational, research and athletic facilities.
We did it!
Our $500 million goal was ambitious. The economy was the worst in modern times. But 88,676 donors who believe in Colorado State University helped us make history.
Because of the Campaign for Colorado State University, 15,372 scholarships have been awarded, 16 new endowed chairs and professorships have been created, and 39 buildings have been built or renovated. But the impact doesn't stop there.
