New Start

Colorado State University has proudly served our military veterans for decades. That tradition continues through the New Start program, which is assisting injured veterans successfully re-enter the classroom, workforce, and their communities.

Impact of giving on CSU faculty

The number of injured military personnel returning from active duty has steadily increased as a result of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas.  The New Start program offers veterans consultation and rehabilitation services, including comprehensive assessments of their strengths and challenges at home, at work, and at school.

Clients to New Start are referred from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and other organizations.

  • New Start assists injured veterans while establishing local support systems of family and friends that help facilitate their return to everyday life.
  • New Start staff members are highly trained occupational therapists and human service professionals who take a personalized, outcome-oriented approach with each client.
  • New Start offers a holistic approach to building a solid foundation of support by responding to the needs in all areas of a veteran’s life.

Injured veterans are at risk of falling through the gap between transitioning from military to civilian life. Your gift enables New Start to be a bridge for those who need it most.
